A few years ago, I published a blog titled “How to Write a Blog Post That Brings Readers“. While providing tips on how to drive traffic to your website, I quickly learned that some information is not as helpful and is just a waste of the reader’s time. However, I wanted to become more focused on sharing information that clients really care about. That is why I am revamping my approach as to how I can provide relevant tips concerning the importance of choosing and using the right images.

Images are vital for online marketing

It is important to use images for marketing purposes, because they are the first thing an online viewer will see. They are also the easiest way to convey a message or feeling without being too wordy. If you want your blog post to be seen by as many people as possible then it is imperative that you have at least one image within your content somewhere. It doesn’t have to be big and flashy either! There are plenty of ways small businesses can promote their products with just a few relevant pictures.

The more compelling an image is, the better it will do on social media

It is no secret that social media sites are flooded with images. This means that an image can be the difference between someone scrolling past your post or stopping to read it. If you want your content to stand out, then you need a compelling image.

For example, if you were posting about how to make banana bread, using a picture of just some bananas might not get as much attention as using one of them on top of the finished product would!

When you’re choosing a photo to use on your web design, make sure that it’s high quality and relates to your business

Every single one of your images in your web design and social media is an advertisement. You want that ad to be high quality, right? It can be hard to find high quality images for your blog. But it is so important that they are relevant to your business and of good quality! You want people to be able to look at them and know what you’re talking about.

Make sure your images are optimized for the internet

Many of our clients use great images for their website, but sometimes they are too large. I am referring to the images you take using your camera’s phone and upload directly onto your website. The problem is the default file size of pictures from your phone or camera is extremely large. The default size enables you to take your photo to a photo center to print, but not to upload to your website. WordPress and other website platforms create smaller versions of the picture, but depending on how it is attached into your web page, uploading these images onto your website using the default size could cause your website to load really slow.

The easiest thing to do is to simply resize your pictures by using a photo editor program such as Microsoft Paint or Apple Photos. Your resized photo should be no bigger than 800 pixels in width and height (800 x 800). That way, your web page will load much faster, and your website visitors will appreciate it!
